August Burns Red is a metalcore band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The band formed in March 2003 while some of the members were still in high school, and soon began playing shows around Lancaster. The band name is derived from former vocalist, Jon Hershey, who broke up with his girlfriend named August. She got mad and burnt his dog Redd alive in his doghouse. Lost Messengers: The Outtakes is August Burns Red's third EP, which was released on February 24, 2009 and will feature B-sides and demos from their previous album, Messengers.
