Red is an American Christian rock band from Nashville, Tennessee established in 2004. The five-member band (Mike Barnes, lead vocals; Anthony Armstrong, guitar, BGV's; Randy Armstrong, bass, piano, BGV's; Jasen Rauch, guitar; and Hayden Lamb, drums) has been tirelessly developing the eleven-track album with grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Rob Graves over the past two years. End of Silence was mixed by Ben Grosse (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fuel, Sixpence None the Richer).

History

Formation

Red began when Michael Barnes met brothers Anthony and Randy Armstrong. They officially formed Red by adding drummer Andrew Hendrix and second guitarist Jasen Rauch. Rauch is also, according to the End of Silence booklet, the band's primary composer. After signing a record deal with Essential Records, Hendrix left the band. After long searching the band chose Hayden Lamb as the replacement drummer. Red also chose Rob Graves to produce their debut.

End of Silence

The band's debut album End of Silence was released in 2006, and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of "Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album" at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards.

The album's first single, "Breathe Into Me," peaked at #15 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart and won the "Rock Recorded Song of the Year" award at the 38th annual GMA Dove Awards in 2007.

The band has toured with bands such as Disciple, Kutless, and Flyleaf as well as with mainstream post-grunge artists, including Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Seether, Puddle of Mudd, Shinedown, Staind, Papa Roach and They have also made appearances at the teen conference Sevendust.Acquire the Fire.

On November 27, 2007, Red's van and trailer crashed on Interstate 24. There was major damage to the vehicles involved, and former drummer Hayden Lamb suffered injuries to his shoulder that forced him to sit out on their headlining tour.

Innocence & Instinct

The band's new album, Innocence & Instinct, is scheduled to release February 10, 2009. The album will feature 10 songs, including the first rock radio single, "Death of Me". The Deluxe Edition will be released the same day, featuring 4 additional tracks, the Death of Me music video and a making of documentary.

Red made Radio & Records history as the first band in Christian rock history to have a song debuting at #1 when the band's single "Fight Inside" was released in November 2008.
